Guidelines
- Any Oklahoma school may join the Oklahoma School Video Consortium (OSVC).
- Membership is on an annual subscription basis and the license fee is determined by
the average daily membership of the district. All schools in the district gain membership when the district joins. The license fee for the 2000-2001 school year is
- $200.00 per year for districts with 100 or less ADM
- $300. 00 per year for districts with 101 to 1,500 ADM
- $450.00 per year for districts with 1,501 to 4,000 ADM
- $600.00 per year for districts with over 4,000 ADM
- With membership the district obtains full duplication and retention rights for most
titles held by the Consortium. If membership is not paid in full by January 2002, rights are terminated, the district forfeits membership, and all tapes in the inventory must be erased.
- The district shall decide which of the titles they wish
for their use. There are four possible methods for obtaining copies of Consortium tapes:
- Off-air taping when adopted titles are broadcast by OETA. This is the easiest and least expensive method. Members will be sent a broadcast schedule when titles and dates are determined.
- Duplicating a master tape borrowed from the Consortium located in the Lawton Professional Development Center. Loan requests are filled as quickly as possible in the order they are received. We will mail 1/2" VHS video tapes unless 3/4" U-Matic tapes are specifically requested.
- Borrow the desired title from another Consortium member and duplicate it.
- It is the intention of the Consortium that these videos be readily available for classroom use. The district is free to duplicate their original copy as needed to provide copies for all appropriate library media centers in their district. Students may also check out these tapes for school or home use.
- Full duplication and retention rights are held only as long as the district remains a member of the Consortium. These rights are also extended to any teacher's guides that accompany the tape.
- If a district withdraws from the Consortium by not paying the annual license fee,
retention rights are forfeited and all copies of the titles obtained through the Consortium must be erased. This includes prerecorded tapes purchased from the video
vendors at a discount, unless the district negotiates an agreement directly with them
for the purchase of the retention rights.
- Additional titles will be added to the Consortium each year as increasing revenue from an increasing membership allows.
- Selection of new titles for the Consortium is done by a committee with member suggestions considered.
- The Consortium has full exchange privileges during the first year of a title's adoption and may substitute a new title for those found unacceptable by the membership.
- Member districts may not share Consortium tapes with nonparticipating districts or their schools.
- Admission may not be charged to view Consortium tapes.
- One person will be selected by each district to serve as contact person for the Consortium.
- Copies of Consortium titles must be marked to identify them as part of the Okhoma School Video Consortium. Labels are available to member districts.
- There will be a $ 10. 00 replacement fee for any lost or damaged tape.
